[WriteLog] CAT control of Yasesu FT-990

 I use WL with an FT-890, and radio control will only work when I select 
FT-900 as the radio in WL.  If I select FT-890, the radio keeps cycling on 
and off with the polling.  

Try using the menu selection in WL for the FT-900 with your FT-990.   You may 
find that this will work.
