Al,

I would first recommend that you finish the picture, install the
computer interface to your radio. You can either build it yourself or
check out several sites that make aftermarket interfaces. This is a
necessity IMHO if you are contesting.

Then you should be all set. I have the same setup Rigblaster modified to
a plus model and 746 radio with computer interface. Works great and have
made many great contacts with Writelog.

Good Luck,

Rich KJ6RA

Subject: [WriteLog] a newbie question

Hello All,

I am pretty new to RTTY and have been enjoying the mode immensely. With
Christmas coming, I wanted to ask the XYL to buy Writelog for me. I have
looked over so much info regarding Writelog, my head is swimming.
Question is, I now use MMTTY as my RTTY program. I also use the
Rigblaster plus for FSK keying. I have an Icom 746 Pro as well. I am not
using any form of computer control of the 746. The PC is a Pentium III
500 mHz with 384 of RAM.

Can I feel confident that Writelog will work ok with this set up,
especially since I am using FSK? I work only RTTY and CW. I have little
interest in the so called "souncard programs" per se, or SSB.

I have a lot to learn about contesting software, but, judging from what
I see, this forum is a great place to begin. Thanks in advance for any
suggestions!

Vy 73,

Al WB2JEP
