RAID is a technology that can be implemented
for ANY kind of storage. In fact, if you're
running various high-end versions of Windows,
you can even do SOFTWARE RAID within the
operating system.
Hardware RAID using IDE storage devices is
quite common - and more importantly,
inexpensive!
As noted in other postings ... there are
motherboards that have RAID built-in.
There are also manufacturers that make
PCI based IDE RAID adapters ... that can
typically be put into any computer!
(One manufacturer we use is Promise.)
RAID is invaluable, protecting you from
drive failures. Of course, it does NOT
protect you from file deletion or other
corruption that's caused by code actually
writing to a disk.
