Steve WU9B and all,

There may be other circuits available, but one I used was very similar to
the circuit shown in the February 1993 issue of QST Magazine, pp. 37 - 41.
I believe that the article is available on the ARRL website in the Technical
Information Section as a PDF document. The article is a 1.5 MB download.
By the way for others, this article says the interface will work with ICOM,
Kenwood, Ten-Tec, or Yaesu transceivers. To search for the article: The
title is "Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Hardware for
Computer-Controlling Modern Radios;" The author is Wallace R. Blackburn,
AA8DX; and you have the date above.

The interface that I built to use with my TS-440S/AT worked quite well with
WriteLog. Once you try computer-rig control, you won't want to go back.
The band-map is a beautiful operating aid. Click on a DX spot, and the
program will use the interface even to set the split frequency (if properly
posted).

Kenwood-users should pay attention to footnote 6. No need to etch a
circuit board, you can do point to point wiring on a perforated board from
RS.

Helpfully submitted with 73,
   Jerry K7VIT
