That was quick!
Call off the dogs. Problem is fixed.
Thanks to K6RB and N3HS for aiming me in the right direction.
I discovered the motherboard was made by Transcend in Taiwan.
Their web site had an acceptable audio driver.
Now everything works as it should.
Thanks to several others who also answered my plea for help.
