I found a less than ideal fix, but a fix nonetheless - if I remove the PTT
lines, the recorded messages work fine both with and without VOX. Of course,
live mic audio will only work with VOX using this workaround.

Now this REALLY confuses me. Using an ohm meter, it appears the PTT NEVER
closes when recorded audio is being sent. That is, if I take a reading on
either left or right PTT from the W5XD box, it is always open, even when
recorded messages are being played.
