There is a new full install program that will install the
LPT port driver for you.

Not a big deal to install the DLL.

Just follow the instructions in the N1MM Manual:

Serial and Parallel port interfacing under Windows NT/2000/XP
Windows NT, Windows 2000, XP and their descendants require a special dll
which will be installed by running: PORT95NT.EXE to use the parallel, serial
and USB ports.
Windows 95, 98 (SE), ME don't need this special dll. In these operating
systems N1MM logger can access the parallel port direct without the need for
an extra driver.

To install the NT/2000/XP capable dll, do the following:

Download PORT95NT.EXE. A link to this file can be found in the installation
section.
The size is about 1,6 Mb.
To install, just run port95nt.exe
Select Next, Yes and typical where appropriate.
Yes to boot your PC
You are done.
You have to be the administrator of your machine when running port95nt.exe

BTW looks like this dll is needed to address the serial COM ports for CW
keying as well.

I use the W1WEF LPT interface for CW Keying and the one COM port for rig
control. This configuration works well for me.

Brian

Instead of lots of explanation why . . . I'll just agree with Les.
Just download N1MM and use as much or little of the functionality as
you like. But, you'll be more successful with a COM port CW cable
than parallel port keying. Parallel cw keying doesn't work under Win
XP without doing some special tricks. If you really want to do those
tricks, see http://www.k2ct.net/n1eu/n1mm/MMKeying.htm

Looking for your recommendation for a contest logging program

I know they have lots of features that I would not use, so I am looking for
simplicity that will do:
Radio is Kenwood TS-850S
Have the W1WEF connector for running CW out of LPT1 port
Windows version is XP
Use of Telnet to get spots desired.

Thanks, and 73 good folks!
