You ARE using a stereo plug on the Heil Proset, right? Audio 
to tip, shield to shell, no connection to ring.  Also, make 
sure mic 20 dB boost is enabled. All of that is what 
soundcards want to see with a dynamic mike.

You may get some little beeps and whines with a motherboard 
sound system. That is RFI caused by all of the adjacent high 
speed digital circuits. Usually, it is not too 
objectionable, but sometimes a real sound card is required.
