[WriteLog] writelog keying

to save my life I can not get writelog itself to key in cw.

Im not talking about keying the radio, but rather the program itself 
does not key.
  Hitting f keys does nothing,, going to alt k , I can type the letters 
in but nothing happens.
this has to be something really simple
"this has never happened before"
