I'm trying to get WL setup for my first try at the WAE DX Contest SSB coming
up next weekend. As this will by my first ever effort in this contest I'm a
bit confused by some of the WL keys associated with the QTC exchange. I
just read the WAE Contest section in the help manual and have some questions
about setting up the message keys for a SSB contest.

The section on "Receive QTC Dialog" says the QRV button transmits the
message on SHIFT+F9, while the QSL button transmits the message on SHIFT+F8.
Doesn't the SHIFT+Fn normally result in the Record-on-the-Fly feature being
invoked for an SSB contest? Or is this a special case where that doesn't
happen? Maybe I don't need to worry about this as the WAE rules indicate
that QTC's must only be sent to a European station. This sounds like I
don't need to worry about receiving any QTCs?

Likewise in the "Send QTC Dialog" section the instructions say that the QRV?
button transmits the QTC group/count followed by the SHIFT+F11 message and
the QTCs button transmits the group/count followed by each of the QTC
messages, followed by the SHIFT+F10 message. Again I'm thinking the WAE
module prevents the SHIFT+Fn keys from invoking the Record-on-the-Fly
action. But what should the SHIFT+F11 and SHIFT+F10 messages contain? Can
anyone provide examples of what you send?

Finally, the section "Special WRITELOG.INI settings" gives an example for a
[WAE] section containing:

QTC_FILL_REQ=%s%s PSE REPEAT QTC:%d%s

I'm not sure what this command line does. The manual also says, "The %s%s
string must be in your customized version of the message, as must the %d%s.
This has me really confused. In SSB, how is the DVK going to say "PSE
REPEAT QTC" unless I have a previously recorded wav file somewhere? Which
wav file msg should this be? Any help appreciated.

73,
Gary AL9A
