Rick, I'm no expert, but this problem of combining Mic and Line input

simultaneously has been affecting people since Vista, and now on Windows 7.

There is a Writelog note about this at:
<http://writelog.com/downloads/sound-board-check>

Microsoft has this to say:

<http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprohardware/thread/32d12439-928e-4bbc-9723-5ae8a51f156d/>

Some discussion about this on an Audio Forum:
<http://www.audioforums.com/forums/showthread.php?28557-Mixing-Line-In-and-Mic-Windows-7>

I had heard it can be overcome by using an external mixer, or TWO sound

cards, or by using Virtual Audio Cable to combine the sources digitally,

(or by switching to Linux). Also, your particular sound card may support this

feature in its hardware and own specific driver and control panels, even if

the standard Windows 7 controls can't do it.
