Thanks to Don pointing out that I had not selected Save Configuration therefore
both questions are now resolved.

Anytime you make a change within WriteLog, get into a habit of doing a Save
Configuration, along with a Save file (CTRL S). Save
Configuration is under the Setup menu. This should save all of your settings.

Subject: [WriteLog] problems with holding settings

I'm having problems with Writelog not holding settings...

Problem 1: Super Check Partial doesn't hold settings...
WL needs to be told where to find the Master.DTA, Master.DX.DTA, MasterSS.DTA,
MasterTTY.DTA, and MasUSVE.DTA files after every
restart or close and reopen of Writelog, although it shows in the DTA file name
path when opening.
I go to Setup, then select Super Check Partial, then the window shows the SCP
MTA file in this path... C: Drive/Program
Files/Writelog 11/Programs/...
but to make it work I must click on the Master.DTA file, then click Open, then
click Apply and OK.
My question is why won't this hold from one time to the next?

Problem 2:
Ports don't stay set...
Again, after every restart or opening and closing Writelog, I can't use the F
keys to generate my preset exchanges.
I must go to Setup, then select Ports, then click the button next to COM 7 for
CW and select K1EL Winkey under CW keyer type.
Then I click Apply and OK and it all works, until the next restart.

Yes, I save often. I'm running no other programs on this computer, except for
AVG antivirus in the background.
For what it's worth, this happens in any of the contest modules, not just the
WAE CW contest I'm in this weekend.

And I'm not even going to mention the inconsistent sound levels that spoil my
reading the CW using Rittyrite.

I'm not complaining, I'm just confused about how to make this
radio+computer+interface+contest program work without having to
re-enter all the myriad settings every hour or so.
Any help would be appreciated as I've been using this setup for several years
now and it's getting to be more work and less fun
every contest.
