Gert,

Glad to hear you identified the problem. In WL the default key for moving from field to field is the Space Bar. You can use the Tab key, but the results are unpredictable in that WL doesn't recognize that you have changed fields by using the Tab key until you make an entry into the next field.

There are a some other options to move to the next field without the Space Bar. First, if you are running, after entering information into the CALL field you can press Insert which will do three things all at once:

1. Dupe check the call.
2. Jump the cursor to the next field. If the next field is RSTr and you don't want to bother stopping there you can edit the Contest/Exchange Format Seetup... window, click on the RSTr field name and then uncheck the Prompt box. This will remove the RSTr field from the Entry window so that now when the cursor jumps to the next field it is something other than RSTr. You can still edit the RSTr info from the entry in the log if needed. 3. Send your exchange message from whatever F key you specify in your writelog.ini file.

Another option for a field that always has a fixed number of characters to be entered, say 2 or 3 letters/numbers, is to check the Contest/Exchange Format Setup... window and make sure that field has the Tab Only box unchecked. This will cause the cursor to auto jump to the next field when the last character is typed into the field.

For CW and SSB contests, after entering the CALL, I usually hit Enter, which does the dupe check and starts sending my exchange information. While that is sending I hit the Space Bar to jump to the next field to enter the received data. For RTTY contests I usually use the Insert key because in that mode the Insert key will auto populate the CALL field from the Rttyrite window if the call is recognized from the Super Check Partial file and is highlighted as either a new mult or a good station call. That really speeds up the entry process.

TNX Gary,

Just run some tests and found that if I insert a space between the time and
the call, and between the call and the exchange number of the QTC, the
Cabrillo file is showing ok. Guess I was just being lazy and expecting
Writelog to sort things out. Something to remember for the next WAE contest.

Gert,

I'm also running WL V11.12D, but do not see the problem with the first
letter of the QTC missing. All of my QTCs have the first letter of the call

in place. The letter T in a serial number being changed to a number 0 in
the QTCs in the Cabrillo file is normal and not a problem The WAE robot has

accepted my Cabrillo log with a problem.

There were a few emails during the contest from a US ham (whose call I
cannot remember now) who was having a problem with the entire first QTC from

a sent block not printing in the Cabrillo file. He later discovered that a
change he had made to his Contest Exchange Format screen was the culprit and

setting it back to the original settings made things right again. Other
than that I have no idea why you are getting the results you are seeing.

In the QTC's the letter T in the call is converted to number 0 as well...

Using Writelog version 11.12D

I noticed that the first letter of the received call in the QTC is missing
when the Cabrillo file is created.

No changes made, just used the standard setup. Anyone sees this too? Any
fix?
