Thanks all for the comments.. I've been able to do the update on two machines
nevertheless through the direct download process.. I'm pretty sure now it was
browser based.. I tried both Chrome and Firefox when the problem arose. The
IDM2 helper came up on Chrome as a webpage even though I had pop-ups disabled..
Although I never found where the problem was originating from, I cleaned things
out and although I found some adware stuff, no malware or software of this type
was found on the computer.. All is well..

I managed to finally do the update but only after doing a right-click save file
on the 11.21 exe file on the WL download page. If users click on the link,
instead of a direct download, like in my case, it tried to run malware like
Windows Download Manager2 and others.. Be very careful.. Only right-click and
save file..

writelog site and installed.

I attempted to download WL update 11.21 and got hit immediately with
malware. Anyone else had an issue?? One in particular was "UpdateNowPro"
which is well known malware. It seems to have happened immediately after
clicking on the download link. I canceled the download but the malware got
past. Although I was able to remove the malware, I'm not going to try this
again until I know for sure it's clean..
