Dan,

I personally don't know of any way to connect to the QRZ-XML database and have its contests auto fill the fields in the Entry window of WriteLog. You indicate that in the past you've use HRD to connect to an external database, so that software has a provision to do the connection. In my General logger, DXBase2007, I can connect to the Radio Amateur Callbook CD ROM data file on my hard drive and display all the info you are looking for in that program.

So I think your solution will have to focus on some logging program other than WriteLog - that is unless someone more knowledgeable in this matter can chime in with a solution. In its default configuration I think the only thing WriteLog can do in your list of things to have displayed is show the stations beam heading and approximate distance.

Subject: [WriteLog] Linking external XML (QRZ) database possible?

I'm using the Writelog Newbie version 10.90 for the upcoming National
Weather Service Skywarn Special Event (KL7FWX) here in Fairbanks and
although I've loaded the correct and latest version of the country-files dta
files to help, I'd like to be able to display information within the QRZ -
XML database too. I have the paid subscription. I'd like the newbie radio
operators and participants to view on the screen the Name, Address or at
least State and some other pertinent information that is in the QRZ dataset.
Is there any way to do that? Maybe even as an external link thru Writelog?
Optimally, I'd like to have Call sign, Name, State and Distance displayed as
each call is logged. Is there another database I need to subscribe to that
would work?

In the past, we used Ham Radio Deluxe and integration was just a couple of
clicks to integrate to an external database. Writelog however seems to be
more friendlier towards people with zero logging experience. Everyone I
show it to is pleased at its simplicity and it's become our Skywarn standard
now.

Ideas and suggestions and tips appreciated.

Thanks
Dan KL1JP
