Since the invention of DigiRite, I forgot all about the UDP listener.
Interesting information.

FT4 is actually a sub-mode of MFSK but I don't know the reasoning for not
just making it its own mode.

Good luck with TS Dorian.

Subject: [WriteLog] Observation on using the WriteLog UDP listener with FT4

Hi folks

I have been playing ft8 and recently ft4 using wsjt-x with WriteLog UDP
listener and WriteLog. This has been my general everyday ft8 setup and has
worked flawlessly.

A couple days ago I started playing with FT4 with the same setup. To my
surprise in that situation WriteLog logs all the ft4 contacts as MFSK.

For the upcoming wwdigi contest I plan to use wsjt-x with n1mm because I
have been playing with WSJT-X longer and I am more familiar with it.
Playing with that setup I exported an adif and imported that adif into my
existing WriteLog file that I have been using and to my surprise all the
ft4 contacts came in as FT4.

Is there something I am missing in terms of what the idp listener is
translating ft4 contacts to MFSK? Is there a work-around or will there be a
future update to the UDP listener that fixes this issue?

It's not a big issue but I like to stick with proven stuff and therefore I
am most comfortable keeping my ft8 and ft4 general logs within WriteLog
with the WSJT-X logs as backup.

Look forward to working you all next week-end.
