Currently I use microHAM DIGI KEYER II as the interface instead of direct
USB driver with TS-890 so I forgot exactly how I set.

I missed to mention about PTT if you are using 'voice message' on the phone
contest with WriteLog.

So the MENU 17., 18, 19, and 20. should be correctly assigned to PTT, DATA
PTT, CW KEYING and RTTY KEYING. Initially I had a same issue in CW Keying
staying keyed.

If I am wrong, I am sorry but my memory recalls --- (you may have to reverse
17. and 19., 18. and 20.)

17. Virtual Standard COM Port - RTS DATA SEND (for WSJT-X 2.1.2)
18. Virtual Standard COM Port - DTR CW KEYING (for the WriteLog PC
generated or WinKey)
19. Virtual Enhanced COM Port - RTS PTT (for the WriteLog voice
messaging keyer)
20. Virtual Enhanced COM Port - DTR RTTY/FSK KEYING (for the WriteLog
RttyRite or MMTTY with EXTFSK 1.06 option)

Jim, you are selecting the wrong port for CW keying.

TS-890 MENU -> see the right sidebar -> ADV. (if you don't see, press MORE)
->  17. ~ 20.

Tinker where CW keying is correctly working and not stay keyed. Same for
RTTY FSK keying and DATA mode keying (test with WSJT-x ?).

These menu controls for CW Keying, RTTY Keying, PTT and DATA SEND (PTT for
the data mode).

Still wrestling with the TS890 being keyed into xmit and the sidetone
coming on and running constantly when writelog starts up. The rig is
keyed into xmit only if rig is in the cw mode, but the sidetone still comes
on and runs constantly and is audible in all modes.

I posted on this yesterday, but did not realize that the rig was actually
being keyed. This was because I did not have the vox turned on, which is
necessary to send cw.

I think there were a few suggestions posted, but somehow I managed to lose
these, and cannot recall what they were.

It does not matter whether the paddle is plugged in or not.

Suggestions?
