[Yaesu] FT-747/SB-1400 drift

I have a Heath SB-1400 (repackaged FT-747) that drifts around 500 cycles before 
settling down. Any suggestions. Once it settles down, it performs pretty good, 
and I have left it powered up 24/7 as a means of combating the problem, but I 
got the radio to use mobile, so I need to get it stable before putting it in my 
car. Any suggestions? They would be greatly appreciated.
