sounds like the vfo encoder shaft is dry and or binding. its had a few year
on it... you could try removing the knob and servicing the shaft with a
small amount of 3 in 1 oil, or similar. use it sparingly though, you dont
want what ever typ of lubricant to get all over the insides of the (plastic)
encoder housing.
its been a few years since I've had to order that encoder so cant help with
that info.
if you wind up having to replace the encoder and the part is avalable, its
not hard to do.
