[Yaesu] ft1000d display fading fast

Hello to all on the Group. I have an ft-1000d and am haveing problems with the 
display. I can see it slowly fading away.... its getting dimmer by the day and 
its also started making a noise high pitched whistleing. is there a known 
repair for this problem short of replacing the 250.00 
display board??? THANKS Dave N9WQ
