Not as much domestic activity as I expected and it's always difficult to =
work around the JARTS RTTY contest on 40-meters. QRP CW and QRO RTTY =
don't play well together. Conditions from 40 up were FB - 10 meters =
just wouldn't quit. 80 was noisy and I think a lot of folks east of =
Denver at snoozin' by the time the band opens up for us out here. A =
fair amount of DX could be bagged with 1 watt, so that kept things =
interesting all day Sunday. Lots of 3-band and 4-band QSOs.
This was the first time I have been able to make a major effort in this =
fun contest in many years and got in 20 hours. I also had just finished =
moving the shack from one room to another and was able to try out a new =
arrangement of the gear. The results were excellent, surpassing the old =
WA record set down at W7RM's super-station by N7OU and the posted =
20-15-10 record set by W5VBO. However, I'm sure conditions were just as =
good for N4BP, K0FRP, K0FX, and others that were running up big scores. =
Anyway - it was a lot of fun and a good tune-up for SS, where I'll be =
teaming with WA0RJY to operate K7IR from EWA.
72, Ward N0AX
