Comments:
Wasn't sure if I wanted to try this contest from home or not. I am limited to
running 50 Watts to the ground-mounted vertical in the back yard.
Did the obligatory, and stupid, attempt to repair the antennas before the
contest. Missed quite a bit of time re-reouting, and then repairing the coax.
Of course the computer decided to crash. Have the shack computer networked to
the PC in the house so my XYL can send me messages and track my progress. So I
have to have the net running to avoid constant interupption.
Did not make any effort to compete, slept each morning until 9am. Had no real
antenna this time for 40M, just the vertical. No 80M or 160M antenna, so no
score there. Sure enjoy using this Icom, nice and quiet, but that vertical
doesn't hear much more than the worms.
What happened to the bands Sunday afternoon??? Everything seemed to go dead
all of a sudden. No I don't mean around 2400UTC...at 1400UTC on everything was
mushy.
Hope to see everyone on for WPX! Maybe I will get a chance to operate that
full time.
Brian
