Comments:

My first Sprint in several years. It seems like I am always traveling in Feb
and Sept. And I should have been gone for this one but I missed my flight to
Japan on Thursday because of an incredible traffic jam on I-80 in New Jersey.
As all flights were full until Monday, I found myself with a free weekend. I`m
not much of a phone fan but any contest is better than no contest so about 5 PM
I decided to throw up an antenna at my country place in PA and get on. Two
hours later I had a nice G5RV hanging from the roof of my house and I was ready
to go. Then five minutes before the start of the contest I got a call from
United telling me that I had cleared the waiting list for the Sunday flight so
that destroyed my plan to operate the whole contest since I had to pack up and
get ready to depart. But I did manage 90 or so minutes in the chair. It was
really nice to see all of the East Coast/Midwest activity on 40 Meters at the
start of the contest. Condx on 80 seemed very good but 20 was awful by the
time I got there. The antenna worked surprisingly well.

While packing, I left the rig on to monitor an active frequency on 40. Pretty
interesting. As someone else pointed out, there is far too much round robin
QSOing going on, and by some stations who should know better. It`s against the
rules to hang around the frequency after you have worked your two stations and
work the next new station to pop up. Why do people who normally follow the
rules think its okay to violate this one? Maybe a roving referee would aid in
the enforcement of this rule.
