Had a great time working my first Sweepstakes from home in more than 6 years.
New house, new tower setup but only two antennas, a tribander @ 60' and a 80
meter slopper tuned for 80 and 40 @ 50'. Started off running them on 15 meters
and blew a fuse in the amp 24 minutes and 46 Q's into contest. For the next 30
minutes I looked everywhere for the spares with no luck. Ended up running into
town to Radio shack. I ended up losing 58 minutes right off the bat. Knowing I
wasn't going to be able to put in much time working the contest losing that 58
minutes was a lot. I was glad to see 15 Meters in such great shape, I had put
YT, MAR, and PAC in the log and out of the way within a few hours.
I started out trying to work the sweep on 15 meters but with just a few hours
left I needed DEL. I ended up working N3KW @ 23:44 on 40 meters. Sorry I
couldn't put in a full effort for YCCC ( only 14 hours) but I'm looking
forward to next year.
