Comments:
I don't know what got into me. Decided to try QRP this time. Took a while to
get a feel for who might hear me and who wouldn't. Was going to try to do a
full 36 hour effort but by late Saturday I couldn't stay awake during prime
40/20m time to Europe. Finally gave up at 05z with 21 hours operating time and
8 hours off time. Didn't have it in me to dive back in after a long sleep on
Sunday.
While QRP was fun, it got real boring by the end of the first day when I'd
worked most of the CQing stations. Sure heard a lot of stations that never call
CQ - and I had little success with my own CQing. On the other hand, almost
anyone that heard me eventually got the call and exchange, only had two or three
people give up. Worked a lot of good stuff - 9M2 ET3 R1M 4J6.
While I could operate SO2R there is no advantage in doing when QRP. CQing on
radio 2 didn't get any answers. Used it mostly for quick band changes.
Never did locate a list of USA records before the contest. CQ publishes the
World and North American records, but not USA. Set my goal to try to beat
K3WW's 1.685meg QRP effort from last year, but I came up short.
