Comments:
Not as good as last year for me. Things started out real slow on
Friday. I was about 50 Q's less than last year when I shut down Friday nite
at 0500Z. But with the good opening Saturday nite I caught up. I was
hearing many 10 over 9 sigs until I QRT at 0400Z. Heck I worked FO5RA on
Phone with one call at 0327Z. He was 15 over 9 at the time. I only QRT
because I wasn't hearing any new stations to work! I was hoping for an early
start Sunday morning but propagation wouldn't allow. My first Q was at 1237Z
with ZS2E and then it took 13 min. until someone else could hear me! Sunday
afternoon was my biggest problem. I had trouble with east coast US stations
(and for that matter all backscatter Q's) which is reflected in the low section
mult total (last year I had 13 more). I guess this is just a taste of what the
lower sunspot activity will hold for us in the near future.
I think this probably will be my last QRP effort for quite some time.
It was
VERY hard to keep motivated when rate drops to 20 or less. As a QRP station the
"..--.." or "Again - Again" is most often heard reply to my call. My best rate
was 57 for 2 hrs Sat morn. May be time to go QRO.
