Very interesting contest. Never a dull moment.
All equipment worked. My little room air conditioner battled my
amplifiers to a draw. Very hot/humid in Indiana this weekend.
But threatened storms never came.
Ran a lot on 20 meters when 15 was also open. Could always
go faster on 20, especially in the afternoon. HQ stations were
loud until 2300z, but there was no volume otherwise on 15.
The 10m opening on Saturday lasted almost 5 hours! DA0HQ peaked
at about s8 around 2100z. But I couldn't work anything else. The
bands were very bad south, for some reason. Didn't work Carribean
on 10, and didn't work an LU there either. That has to be a first.
I worked V31KG on 15m at 2330z and he was stronger on the west
antenna than he was south!
15 meters was open all night here. EU long path started coming in
around 0500z, but nothing new to work there. Swung over to short
path around 0900z. Signal were stronger then than they were at
sunrise.
40 meters was the big surprise of this contest. Signals were strong,
and until about 0900z, the QRN was reasonable. Then it got really
noisy. I couldn't do a thing on 80. Called LN2HQ, but couldn't raise
him. Mult really poor there.
This contest has great rules, and great all band activity. Hard to
complain about a contest that gives you 100/hr's all contest long!
