Could propagation be any worse??
This was the first outing for the "still under construction" SO2R station. The
two FT1000mp Mk5's were flawless. The F12's did everything that was asked of
them. had a small bit of interaction hash on some bands, but overall no
problems.
Did I say propagation was terrible???!!! I think I worked my first EU 12 hours
into the contest even though the beams were firmly pointed towards EU nearly all
the time. Never heard JA. Barely worked ZL2AMI with an S0 and finally a VK.
EA8/DJ1OJ was strong on most bands and there was a ZS who made it into the log
early on. On 40 and 80, the noise was unreal.
Overall I's set out a plan that was met except for the multipliers. I was short
by about 50 percent in terms of mults. Last year I had 91 - this year less than
50!!!
Thanks to the US stations who kept my rate up and more especially NB1B, W4LC,
NC2N, W1BYH, K0FX, AD4EB, N9RS, WA2ETU and K4GMH who all made it into the log on
all bands. Quite a few more were on four bands. Most stations I think did not
realise that 10m was wide open from the Caribbean to the USA for a couple
hours.
As it turned out - I should have rested for the last few hours of the contest as
someone switched off the propagation from the Caribbean.
Thanks to everyone again and to BARTG for sponsoring the event.
73's, Dean - 8P2K in the contests
