Comments:
Another enjoyable weekend at the P40Y-P40L QTH. The only disappointment was 160;
conditions on 160 from Aruba were terrific on Thursday night (before the
contest), OK on Friday night (when I made 257/48 QSOs), and poor on Saturday
night (when I made only 4 more QSOs and tried unsuccessfully to move several
mults). The station played well, and nothing broke.
This year, to try to reduce Sunday afternoon hallucinations, I changed my sleep
strategy to include two and half hours of actual sleep Sunday morning. It did
seem to help, though I did occasionally find myself nodding off in the middle of
a QSO (and I note that the difference between my and 9Y4W's claimed scores
represents about 13 minutes of operation at our average rate, so maybe a
slightly shorter sleep interval would have been better).
Thanks to everyone for the QSOs and particularly to those who QSY'd for me,
including the unsusccessful moves (and particularly VO1HP, VE4YU and KO7X for
double moves). Congratulations to 8P5A, 9Y4W, ZF2TJ, and the other FB Caribbean
operators.
As compared to other years, I think I received a small benefit from the absence
of other major P4 efforts, though the combination of P40LE, P43JB and P43E did
produce several thousand QSOs, some of which might otherwise have come my way.
