Comments:
Two hours before the contest and while checking out the station, I noticed an
intermittent in the Force 12 C3A at 70'. Signals would drop from 10 over to
about S3, then back up. I looked outside and saw the wind was blowing gently.
During transmit, SWR ran up to about 3:1. Wonderful. It was working FB last
week. Go find the climbing belt. No climbing belt. Had I loaned it out and
never gotten it back? Where was it? I still haven't found it.
I CQ'd more than ever before, with good results, I think. I scoured the bands
working anyone I hadn't yet worked. There were only a couple of stations that
blew me off because of conditions. I think I worked them later, though.
I hate the last couple of hours of the contest. I don't know why I don't just
reserve a couple of hours of off-time for the 0100-0300Z time frame. It's the
most frustrating operating period out of the whole contest. Even 0900-1100Z
Sunday morning is better than the last two hours.
Where were WTX, MB, PQ?? How could I have missed them (or they me)?
It was a fun contest. I had a great time. My station (overlooking the C3E
problem--not the first time, by the way) worked great.
I had such a good time, I'm even considering doing SS SSB. Somebody help me,
please!!
