Comments:
Difference between first and second nights was extreme; no rate the second
night. Band was quieter than the first night and signal levels were way down;
bad news for QRP. However the sunset peak to the east coast was very good
Saturday with KC1XX, N8VW, W4MYA and others all S9 or better for 30 minutes or
so. DX worked was limited to 6Y0A and XE2TG. The only Japanese station heard
was JA7NI, as he called someone else Saturday morning.
Earlier this fall I found that shorting the feedline to the shunt-fed tower
improved the K9AY loop array pattern. That trick helped a lot with the weak
stations (the virtual QRP, antenna challenged ones).
EQ:
Elecraft K2
TX antenna: Shunt-fed, top-loaded 22meter tower
RX antenna: K9AY loop array
Thanks for the QSOs. Looking forward to next year.
