Comments:
his was an interesting contest, the planning for which was rather difficult
because of the job situation at the moment. I was supposed to get home early and
get some rest ahead of the contest, but instead got home late... very late.
I'd decided to really let out all the stops and the plan was to start
aggressively and keep one rig on 20 or 40 for the entire contest, while hitting
the next best open band with the second (15 during daylight and 80 at night). In
the past, I've focussed on high bands -- this time I also wanted to focus on the
low bands - mainly 40.
I started with good runs on 20 and 40 and was way ahead of previous year's
scores from the very beginning.
By 0800hrs on day 2 I was already past my previous best, and still had another 1
hours left in the contest. Unfortunately I probable averaged 30-40 Q's for that
final 10 hours which was a little disappointing.
The bands to Europe kept shifting and it was always a struggle making Q's. Both
rigs did a lot of tuning!!! I also tried to move stations from bad to band.
Thanks to those stations that QSYed.
Thanks to all the great stations that make this mode a pleaure to work. Also, to
K2SC, VE3ESH and to B9Z who were the only ones making it into the log on all
bands.
