Nice earth weather, bad space weather. Other than very local qsos, I had only
two in state qsos on 40 meters, with N9EZ way out in GOGE.
I did have fun running the bands with K8GL from BAY, SAGI, and MIDL, good for 23
qsos from those 3 counties. The 10 meter qsos were with the 75/20/15 antenna
and a huge SWR, but when you're 8 miles away you can get away with that. That
was probably my best rate in the first 7 hours.
75 meters saved the multiplier day, with 9 of my 11 MI SSB mults there. Thanks
to those who QSY'd to give me mults on SSB, including K3TM, N3DXX, K4DJ, KN5H,
KO7X, K0JPL, and K0RI. Unfortunately I couldn't talk K4WW, K5OT, or K8JQ into
moving, and I couldn't find N4JF when we moved.
With the high geomagnetic activity and high gas prices, it worked out to about
25 cents per qso. But for a good day of mobile contesting, it's priceless.
CU in the Ohio QSO Party on Saturday, August 26.
