Comments:

We have been pounded by relentless high winds for the past 2 weeks or so and
every power line in my backyard has to be buzzing. The static level on 20M was
s9 or better, wiping out even moderately strong signals and turning me into an
alligator.

Lots of HQ stations on. Worked mainly into the US as I didn't start until late
Saturday evening. Never heard many DX stations on but I guess that was just
timing. I was invited for a sail on the bay and we were gone most of the day so
contesting had to take a backseat.

The SteppIR worked well but I have to admit, it is not the optimum choice for a
single position contest station that likes to band-hop. Band changes take a
while and you can't operate until the elements come to a halt. Finding a freq
and calling CQ is the forte of this set-up as it does deliver a big signal.
That doesn't mean I'm going to give it up because that's not going to happen
HI.

Once again, 15M was dismal and 10 wasn't going to be open in the evening
anyway. Heard a couple big sigs on 15 and worked them but never got a rise when
calling CQ.

Anyway, a bit of fun for a couple hours. Looking at the on-line scoreboard and
saw that our Canadian team was leading right up to the end of the contest and
then the board went for a powder.

Sorry to all the stations I know were calling but I just couldn't pick you out
of the static. Going to call the local power company to check it out again.
Maybe something shook loose. Wouldn't surprise me.

Thanks for the Q's and CU next contest.
