This was lots of fun and my best score in this contest so far. Conditions were
relatively good, although 15m never opened well to Europe from here. The only
station failure was a capacitor in the 160m shunt feed match, which failed the
first time I tuned up on 160 (and was smoking when I went outside to check on
it!). After that I was able to make some qso's on 160 using low (<50w) power).
Before this contest I made my two Beverages into two-wire Beverages with
switchable direction, which helped a lot on the low bands. I don't think I
could have copied the wrtc stations on 80m without that. On 40-10, all the wrtc
stations were very close to the same strength here, but on 80m there were larger
variations. Some I could copy easily on 80, but others that called me were much
weaker. I think some were calling that were so weak I just couldn't pull them
out.

Here's the curse of living in the far corner of zone 8: I had 692 1-point zone
8 qso's, vs. 255 3-point zone 7 qsos's. If I move west (less than 2 hours
drive) to zone 7, the final score goes up to 1551225
