Comments:
I'm glad I decided to go High Power and I am glad I did. I probably would have
had very little luck on 20 without some juice. This was a part time effort
anyway.
I got started Saturday AM and had a good run on 40. Then went to 20. Boy what
a disappointment 20 was. Signals were long and weak from MN. I tried it a bit
then decided to do something else with my day. Came back later in the
afternoon and it was better but not great. So messed around a bit on 15 and 20
and worked what I could then went to 40 again.
The 2nd day on 20 (Sunday AM) was better but strange. I could hear EU this
time but they were so light that they were bordering on ESP signal levels. To
my surprise when I called these weak EU stations they almost always heard me.
1500 watts helps, but I was still surprised based on the signal levels. Just
about nothing for stateside though. Had to cut my operation short at 1630Z for
a trip to Duluth. So that was the end of the contest for me. I have a feeling
I did not miss much later in the day except for more beating my head against
the amp in frustration on 20/15. :)
