Comments:
The high bands were rotten, and the lower bands were great. Managed just over 9
hours on (a runaway nap claimed 45 minutes more than I planned).
Only 15M Q was TI8II. Listened for more but nothing heard from anywhere.
Had extremely strong power line noise all day on 20M, and felt weak. Rather
disheartened by just 114 Qs and 35 mults on 20M.
40M felt much stronger than 20M, but died out pretty early. SO2R worked well as
20M was closing and 80M opened up.
80M was king and worth every minute spent there. Landed SD and RI callers
back-to-back in the final five minutes. What an 80M ending :)
During a break mid-afternoon I did an antenna walkabout and discovered that the
east 80M wire vertical's (sun-damaged or perhaps squirrellized) support rope had
broken half-way along the 75' run up to a pine branch. The wire was still mostly
vertical, and the array played very nicely on Saturday night, despite one
vertical hanging by friction. Sunday will be slingshot-and-new-rope day if all
goes well. Never had to do this with snow on the ground, but repairs can't wait
for spring to arrive.
