Comments:
My first contest after over a year QRT and selling everything. It's like riding
a bike, you don't forget it! It is amazing what a little CW contest will do to
the bands, WOW. It even improves propagation.
My only antenna is a 20/40 fan dipole towards Europe at about 30 feet; that and
100 watts made it very tough to get any sort of run going, just a few "jogs"
really. Kind of boring, I might have to buy another amp and get those dipoles
up at least 50 feet. But I had fun during my 7 hours (3 hours each night from
0200-500Z), the days were spent at the swimming pool with the kids. I am trying
to learn to get my priorities straight.
I had hoped my "rare" prefix would help generate interest. I am not so sure it
did. I also learned, yet again, that with my small station domestic contests
seem more fun than DX contests; I can not compete in pile-ups with yagis and
kilowatts. But this is why we have Sweepstakes, right!
73 and thanks for the fun. It IS as fun as I remembered.
