Comments:
The K3 at 100 W worked great, as usual. Transmit antenna was temporary stealth
inverted U at 40 ft on Spiderbeam and Jackite poles. Downsized K9AY hidden in
plum tree for 90% of the receiving. The first full 160 contest with the K9AY,
and it was a joy to use. Great to have lower noise and some directionality!
Got off to an encouraging start with MT and WY as Qs number 1 and 3. Fortunate
to find some good run frequencies both nights which helped considerably, and
resulted in a personal best for this contest. Conditions were good, at least
for stateside. Mother Nature even cooperated here with no wind and the snow
held off until the last 3 hours. Missed PR, VI, NLI !, AK, NL and NT. DX was
C6, PJ2, 6Y, HC2, HC8, XE, VP5, ZF3 and FM5.
