Saw from last years results that Maine was under represented - needed a few days
off so packed the car and headed to the coast. Was all set up and ready to go 2
hours before the contest from the farm B&B so took a short nap.
While i was alseep Murphy decided to drop by. Ten mins into the contest, the
power went out - thankfully coming back on 20 mins later. Half an hour later
the threatened rain strarted bucketing down ( no sweat - I was nice and cozy,
right?) Dipole put up in the nice bright afternoon now fell down onto the roof.
Out into the gale to remove it in the dark and re string it to a new ( lower)
installation. Radio one refuses to transmit more than 0.4 W - fortunately
brought a Radio 2.
Murphy decided after 4 hours of this that he'd had enough fun and things
settled down.
Conditions to the west coast and even PAC were amazing. With real antennas it
would have been even more fun :-).
All in all a nice way to spend a long weekend! Thanks to all!
