Comments:
I decided not to run SO2R this time.
I started the contest on 15m which did not last long. I then spent the next two
and three quarter hours on 20m. I moved to 40m around the beginning of the 4th
hour of the contest and stayed there for the next 8 hours the last three of
which my rates were very low. I was only on 80m for less than an hour.
At the end of my first day which was after 11 hours I had 1094 q's. This was
well under my target but seemed OK relative to other competitors I had worked
or heard in the same time frame.
I found it much harder this year to find a spot on 20m and when I did there
were more frequency battles and dirty signals than I had experienced before.
To some degree the same was true for me on 40m. I was spotted incorrectly
several times and had a high number of dupes as a result.
I should have moved to 75m much sooner and spent more time on 15m Saturday. I
also could have been smarter about band changes the second day.
All of my equipment and the station worked very well. A better op could have
done much better from this station than I did.
It was good to hear and work many of my friends.
