Rig: Flex-3000 Antenna: 135' Carolina Windom at 35 feet, 80-10 (but it does
somehow get a little RF radiated on 160)

Had a bad cold all week and didn't think I'd be vocal by Saturday. But it
turned out by late morning I could talk at least between coughing episodes so I
gave it a shot.

Bands seemed less crowded than normal - I actually found some space to CQ on
all bands including 20 for a little while. It's nice having everybody at about
the same power level - except for a few who either had their amps on or have one
incredible antenna array.

Signals seemed pretty weak though, even from places that are normally very
strong here. Not as much activity as usual either, maybe because of bad
propagation - lots of unproductive CQs, S&P was much better until you work
everybody.

Best surprise was calling CQ with little response, and then having another
station start CQing right on top of me. But it was VY2SS! I managed to work
him; otherwise the more rare multipliers seemed harder to find than usual.

Heard some SA DX on 10, but nothing from NA. 15 was good for a while, then 20
was the only game in town until near local dark. After that I bounced around
80/40 and made a little expedition to 160 to see what I could work without a
160 antenna.

Fun though! This is a nice "friendly" contest, not quite intense as some
others.

73,
/Jack
