Didn't think I would be able to do any of this contest due to very strong power
line RFI - so did part time effort. We (the power company and I) tracked it
down to an arcing pole transformer about 1 km from the QTH, which is scheduled
to be repaired within a month. In the mean time noise is S9+ on 160m, across
the band (in AM mode 9 KHz BW). The good news is that my FTDX-5000MP was able
to bring a lot of signals through, using all the filters to the max. Guess it
wasn't much of a surprise I could work just about all I could hear. Best DX
was JA and didn't hear any Europe.
Ant: Shunt-fed 40' tower with TH6 on top - city lot.
Amp: FL-7000 - about 500W
