Comments:

This year I wanted to make a bigger effort. I did put in 5 more hours than
last year (24 hours this year) but the conditions did not seem as good and my
score ended up being only 2K more than last year. Before the contest I decided
that I needed to check my antennas as the Wednesday snow storm had already
toppled one tree in my front yard that blocked my driveway on Thursday. So
Friday I ventured through the snow and up the hill to the antennas. Of course,
the one tree that I had the end of my Inverted L supported by was on the ground.
I untangled the support line and tied it as high as I could in another tree but
the end of the Inverted L was probably down about 20 feet from its normal
position. Next I walked the 2 reversible Beverages. One was broken by a
fallen branch. I spliced the Beverage back together and headed to the house to
get ready for the contest.

The break down from the contest includes 790 â?" 2 pointers, 73 â?" 5 pointers
and 173 â?" 10 pointers. The band to EU was much better on Saturday night but
it seems like that there were not as many US stations to fill in the gaps in
time and I felt that I was calling a lot of unanswered CQs. I think a lot of
people were chasing the VP8 Dxpedition on other bands. The contest was fun and
I really enjoyed running EU stations on Saturday. I did have another power line
noise problem to the SE, but Iâ??ll wait until the power company restores power
to all the people that lost power due to the storm before I start bugging them
about the noise problem.

FT-2000
Alpha 8410 â?" 1500 Watts
Inverted L (70 ft. vertical portion)
2 Reversible Beverages (600 feet) NE/SW and NW/SE

Thanks for the Qs and I will see you all next year. 73, Jack W4NF
