Comments:
Didn't know if I was going to be able to operate at all until right before the
contest - a number of other things going on. Started out for an hour on 15M by
working fellow Outlaw Mike, KC7V followed by NH6V, then a /VP9. Went to 40M at
0000Z and started with XE2MX, then fellow Outlaw KC7V - thanks Mike for the
double.
40M was heavy with QRN until evening which brought a slight decrease in
static/noise. Not a lot of Q's but had time to actually work through some of
the various DSP/filter features on my IC-7000. Once the 'sweet spot' of
settings was found, signals really stood-out from the noise (AGG - S; RF gain
at about 10 o'clock and AF gain at about 1 o'clock positions, and middle cw
filter setting seemed to give best S:N and 'sound' to everyone).
Sweetest moment was KL7RA at 0549. Thanks, Rich!
Had a great time; not to many fills for name/state; and am still antenna
limited.
See everyone in the NAQP SSB later this month.
73,
John,
