Comments:
It's all Laura and Greg's fault! You see, I've had to turn down several
invitations from these friends recently so when they said they were pouring
wine at a Northstar festival, please join us, I agreed to come by. I insisted
on the smallest tastes, no real drinking, and when I left I didn't feel the
slightest bit under the influence. But when KL8C called me for QSO #1, I
switched to the 30' high, 2-element 20 pointed North to make sure I copied the
exchange ... and forgot to switch back to the main antenna for a solid hour! I
was sitting there saying to myself, "Why am I not getting out? Why is the East
Coast so weak? Why am I falling behind ops I usually beat or at least match?"
and didn't think to look at the antenna switch until after 0100. By then it was
too late and I missed a rare chance to break 300. Oh, well...
