Comments:
If I only left the DVK alone this would have been much more fun. About 20
minutes into the Sprint I noticed that the mic was not muting when playing the
recorded CQ message in N1MM. So, between Qs, I started to look for
configuration changes that might resolve that issue. Much to my surprise, the
first attempt at a fix was to completely stop all audio from going through my
soundcard. That made it very hard to make any SSB contacts! My next change was
to import a CW Function Key file. This great progress went on for quite some
time. My frustration level went up with each failed fix. In the end, I was able
to get the soundcard audio back but never the DVK recorded messages. That
stopped my ability to work SO2R as I can't call CQ manually while trying to
copy an exchange at the same time. I was able to move quickly from band to
band, but it was more a quick QSY than SO2R. How much time and how many Qs did
I not make? No idea, but probably quite a few.
This morning, with a clear head, hot cup of coffee and no pressure from a
ticking contest clock, I was able to fix the problem in about 15 minutes.
Mults heard but not worked: NV, AR, RI, SC, MS, MAR
Mults not heard: IA, MO, ND, NE, VT, CT, WV, KY, AK, UT, AB, YT, QC
Thanks for the Qs!
73,
Bruce, N1LN
