Comments:
Conditions were simply terrible. Signals were weak, lots of QSB, lots of noise
on the low bands. We figure we're going to take a beating in our UBNs this
year!
I can't remember a contest when 40M had the highest mult count. We had to go
to 40 early, and had to stay late, because there were no other options! Never
could get a run going on 15M- 2 of those 5 oblasts were worked Sunday morning.
Never did hear a Russian on 10 or 160M. 160M was even worse than the first day
of CQWW CW this year- skimmer gave us lots of spots, but between the high noise
level and non-existent signals it was all for naught. Thanks to Filipe CR6K for
the 7 QSOs on 5 bands. He was our only 160M SSB Q.
Oh, this was a mixed mode contest? We didn't find a lot of activity on SSB
compared to CW, or at least skimmer made us feel that way. Since all 4 of us
would really prefer just to work CW, that's what we did. I doubt even a full
MM operation would have resulted in many more Qs- the propagation to Europe,
and especially Russia, just wasn't there.
Thanks to everyone for the Qs. This is still one of my favorite contests, even
with the poor conditions.
