Comments:

My first SO2R operation at all. Using 2xK3 and capabilities of micro2R was a
real fun! A definitve highlight of the contest. Perfektion of SO2R
functionality was set and delivered by Win DK9IP, who "just in time" built a
pair of new bandpass-filter-set for our WPX DXpedition to Namibia ( V55V ) in
two days. The equipment worked flawlessly. I just can't thank to him enough for
his support. Fil CT1ILT was giving us a tip regarding u2R settings, to avoid
issue with delayed CW transmission. Bracos E77DX tips for SO2R operation were
welcomed too. Nice to have such a kind of friends.

Despite of SO2R I changed my tactic to previous year's one and had by gaining
score my focus onto QSOs/points instead of multipliers. Unfortunately due to
ionospheric disturbance ( obvious impact of latest solar flair(s) ) and
seemingly lower population of the bands through Russian stations, the change
did not pay off fully ( AVG's: 2011/2012 7.01 vs 6,46 ). New band/time
management was of low help too. More than 2,5 hours spent on 40m (our stations
strongest side) did not bring - at the end of the day - a single point
advantage :))). But 15m finaly put a spoke in my wheel, as it did not open up
at all on Sunday morning - not to mention the 3/4 of the last hour. Direction
USA I had horrible noise and only a "few" hardcore-contesters from over
Atlantic appear in the log. "Two-directions" combi of our 2 tribanders was
therefor only a part-time job/idea. Some indicators for propagation conditions
for the last weekend were SFI 102/102, SN 89/54 and Ap 15/10 ( by IonoProbe ).

Great job in contest was done by Fil CR6K, who was having a great signal all
around - newly even on low bands. Need to follow the adivse of my other "Pirin
2011" friend and (CQ) "teammate" Ionut YP9W and join in future the rest of the
group MIXED MODE with friends like DJ5MW, YR1C (YO9GZU), HA3NU, HG6W (HA3OV),
YT2T, K1LZ & Co. who again did excellent scores this year.

Hopefully SFI will improve to the next, the WPX SSB, weekend. See you all then
from the country of Kalahari & Namib deserts.

73 Suad, DK6XZ/E77XZ
