FT990 100W Force 12 C3E at 40', 43 Ft DX-Engineering Vertical with remote tuner
at base.
Severe electrical storm at peak time Saturday evening took away several hours
of time. Then operation on 40 Meters wiped out Samsung 3D LED HDTV (Note: Poor
design, not suitable for use in a Ham-friendly home. Control circuitry
sensitive to RF below 10 MHz. Samsung knows of problem and dodges repair as it
is their engineering flaw .. so time lost trying to restore operation, still
broken. Do not recommend Hams buying Samsung HDTV 55" and above - all have
same design flaws that Samsung says are "commercial practice" - no shielding at
all.)
Noise on 80/40 very high both nights making it hard to hear the weak ones.
Last section worked was NE on 40. Never heard VT ... worked at least 3 of
every other section. Storm (Sandy) affected section stations were plentiful on
the air.
5% lower score amid 9% less on-the-air time. About 70% of contacts were made
by running. Bands crowded and noticed several of the Big Guns were being
harassed by jamming attempts that were not effective.
